Alastair uncovers the first of his Scottish ancestors, who saves Lord Lovat of Clunes from death. Lovat takes him under his wing as Chief Forrester, and he becomes Maurice of Clunes MacRae, the first Chief, and Generation number one of the Clan MacRae.
Alastair follows his ancestors through centuries of battles, feuds, murders, the Jacobite Risings, and the Highland Clearances to his Generation 14, a British soldier sent to the New World. Duncan McRae marries his Scottish sweetheart, and they settle on a land grant in Quebec as pioneer farmers
Michael G. Bergen was born in England. After WWII, he emigrated with his mother to Montreal and has since studied, lived and worked in the UK, Germany, France, and South Africa. History has always been Michael’s passion and has led him to explore his heritage. Bergen has published The Rutherford Chronicles, a series of four books based on the lives of his grandfather, father, their families, and friends, himself, and the broader world and monumental events of the turbulent years of the 20th century.
