Washington, 1814. Eleanor Rutherford wants only what society won’t allow: a voice. She publishes editorials in secret, argues politics with her father’s infuriating protege, and defies her mother and societal demands. But when the Capital burns and her world collapses, Ella must fight for her future and her voice with the one man who might help her keep it.
Washington, 1814. Eleanor Rutherford knows the rules: a lady does not offend. A lady does not argue politics with her father’s infuriating protege, Grant Dashwood. A lady certainly does not publish political editorials under a false name.
Ella has always disappointed her mother and society. When British troops set fire to the capital and Ella loses everything; her home, her father, and the future she dared to imagine. Her voice is all she had left, and all she refuses to lose.
With her inheritance mysteriously vanished and her dear sister and mother left destitute, Ella is pressed toward a wealthy suitor who demands the one thing she cannot offer: her silence. Grant Dashwood is the only one who understands what she stands to lose and the only who works to help her keep it. The Editor’s Daughter is a story of fire and ink, silence and defiance, and the revolutionary act of a woman who dared to be heard.
Anne Felstad has loved historical romance for as long as she can remember. As a girl, she read Austen, the Brontës, Alcott, and Dickens, falling for headstrong heroines and the worlds they navigated. She studied languages, always dreamed of becoming an author, and finally stopped waiting for the “right time” to write her first novel. She lives in Minnesota with her husband and two children and loves to travel. The Editor’s Daughter is her debut.
