As they begin to navigate its strange, wondrous worlds, an unforeseen and enigmatic threat arises—one they and others must find ways to understand, or risk their own annihilation. Imagine that you have a chance to join a peaceful, organized system in a different part of space… where strange, unique and mysterious worlds are filled with technology, creatures and customs that are both unsettling and exciting. While you miss home, you’re also drawn to these odd and wondrous worlds, and planning for a happy, stable future… but then, like many best-laid plans, some things begin to go awry…
This is Lovft, a blend of action, mystery and philosophy in an adventure through the stars… fast and intense, fun and playful, slow and poetic… a journey through the beauty and struggles and tenacity of life, navigating and adapting to an ever-changing, often dangerous world.
This book has (hopefully) relatable, complex characters who don’t create drama for the sake of drama, nor make stupid decisions to move the plot forward. And it is written (hopefully) to delight and keep readers guessing, unsure of what will happen next…
The author is a former scientist, inspired in 1995 to write a novel following the adventures of complex, good-humored, intelligent women in space. When most of Lovft was written (1995-2000), women in adventures often seemed to be ‘male fantasy’ figures, and in 2026 they more often seem like bland symbols of over-competence. Lovft is meant to have genuine, intricate characters, women and men, sharing a true, human experience.
The author has slaved in offices most of her life, but over decades has traveled to 35 countries on all 7 continents. The author also enjoys photography, painting, hiking, chemistry, and mathematics.
