In elementary school, I spent my pocket money on comic books. After age ten, I walked forty-some minutes bi-weekly to my local library’s branch and checked out as many books as I could carry.
Although I loved reading, I never considered studying English or a writing career. But I had a storyteller at home, my mother, who shared the lives of family members who lived before my time, as well as some stories of those people I knew, but set in their younger years. As a working parent of three, my writing was limited until it became a passion.
