What’s this?

When world-weary, divorcee-to-be Richard Tompkins reclaims a stolen mobile at Bond Street underground for feisty Sonya Fairfax, neither expects the chance encounter to change their lives forever.

As their friendship deepens after Sonya rediscovers her latent musical talent, they find themselves united by second chances, impossible redemption, and unanswered questions.

Why is a former piano prodigy now working in a Neasden nail bar?
Why does his wife Tracey and son Luke treat him with barely concealed contempt?
Why does she bristle whenever anyone mentions her father?
Why does the voice inside his head call him Rikki?
And most puzzling of all – Why on earth does she keep shouting, ‘Bloody Chopin‘?

But beneath their humour and sharp-tongued banter, old wounds begin to reopen and both must decide whether the past deserves punishment or forgiveness.

Paul Simpson always wanted to write fiction, but life, work, mortgage, marriage, three sons and two granddaughters had other ideas. After retiring from BT, he finally found time to pen the stories simmering patiently on the back burner. Bloody Chopin is his debut novel, although three previous manuscripts teaching him how not to do it are wisely hidden from public view in the loft. Paul was born and brought up on the mean streets of East London but now resides in sunny East Dorset.
