After service in the US Army, I earned a master’s in historical research from Penn State and took a creative writing course from Nottingham Trent University. Studies at Plimoth Patuxet, Old Sturbridge Village, Brown University, and Wittenberg University taught me how to research the everyday living conditions, tools, and knowledge base of a historical period character. The Distinguished Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year and National Endowment for the Humanities awards recognized my ability to spark my students’ interest. Eight short stories published in the US, UK, and Canada allowed me affiliate writer membership in the Horror Writers Association.
