A Promise to a Fallen King

All hail the Emperor. At least that’s what Elias will say in the presence of the Champion of His Land. Ever since the Emperor’s father betrayed the republic and installed his sadistic son on the stolen throne of Eclipses, no one has had a choice in the matter. Elias’s royal blood means little to the imperial family, especially the princess whose arrogance knows no bounds. He will have to swallow his pride sooner or later, or else his dreams, family, and life as he knows it will come to a swift end.

Rumors of a revived ancient practice are starting to travel north. The tribal people, banished by the men of Eclipses two hundred and fifty years ago, live in a desert to the south called Sothros. A dark threat is turning them against one another.

At first, Arianna thinks this is a good thing. The chaos aligns with her ambitions, and she knows how to use it to her advantage. Her boss, and greatest role model, sees this, but is oddly reluctant to promote her. As she eventually climbs the ladder, she begins to understand the system for what it truly is, and why Sothros and Eclipses will soon be veiled in black.
