Ophelia, the Lady of Elkore is infamous for scandal, sharp wit and a long list of lovers. Beneath her notorious reputation, however, she is simply a twenty-eight-year-old woman, surviving on a combination of alcohol, clove smoke and cruelty to distract her from the disappointment of being.
When her brother, Lord of Elkore, summons her to his war room, she learns that the Fae are gathering. To secure an alliance with Siren’s Bay, Ophelia is sold into a political marriage to their so-called Cripple Prince. But when Elkore is attacked, she is forced to flee through a landscape crawling with monsters and old magic, fighting for survival beside the husband she never wanted.
With her homeland under threat and her future slipping further from her control, Ophelia must decide whether survival is enough—or whether she is willing to let the brutal world beyond her precious Elkore walls force her to confront the parts of herself she has spent a lifetime trying to bury.
I work in the legal field, specialising in Court of Protection and am also a lyricist and musician. Recently diagnosed with AuDHD, my neurodivergent perspective shaped Ophelia’s internal conflict and outsider identity.
