Romanova: Women of the Empire is a short story collection that spans the entirety of the Romanov dynasty, from the Time of Troubles to long after the Russian Revolution. It goes beyond Catherine the Great and Nicholas and Alexandra to tell the stories of women who have yet to be heralded: mothers, daughters, sisters and cousins who survived some of history’s most brutal eras and some of its greatest. Many of these women knew abject poverty. Others knew supreme wealth and power. All of them were more than just a footnote in history.
Tamar has written several novels about the Romanovs: the award-winning alternate historical trilogy Triumph of a Tsar, Through the Fire, and The Imperial Spy. She is also the author of the historical novel in short stories Tales of the Romanov Empire. Her other historical work includes the award-winning short story collection The Lonely Spirit. She has also written extensively in other genres, including contemporary adult fiction and young adult and middle grade fantasy, science fiction and coming-of-age.
