Five years later, 23-year-old Ellie Hart is juggling a corporate job, hospital visits to her comatose wife, and guardianship over her 17-year-old sister-in-law. Zoe Anders struggles with powers she never asked for, monster drills at school, and complicated feelings about her guardian Ellie. They both desperately cling to the past, but the world around them urges them to move on.
