Struck by lightning and hobbling along an old mining road, Adam knows his memory is wiped. Surviving a lightning strike is darned lucky, but where’s his mountain bike? Also, what’s with the big, black dog licking his face? And why is the dog backing away from the fresh footprints in the mud? Then, Adam hears a tortured, half-human growl. Run!

What’s this?

High in the McDowell mountains, Adam Barnett hobbles along a mountain-biking road. Lightning has scrambled his brain. Where, exactly, is he, and why is a big, black dog mopping his face with its tongue?

Adam never imaged that a ride to try out his latest prototype could turn into a race for survival. He’s going to need the help of two strangers before he figures out what’s going on.

From the Black Hawk chopper, Major Blain Jacobson looks down on Biodosius, a military research lab. Concrete building. Windows dark. Cars still in the parking lot. An admiral barks orders, and Jacobson and the strike team get ready to jump.

“Dark.” That’s what Victoria Stewart calls the voice that jolts her awake. Another death. And not a name she recognizing. Grabbing ammo, she races for her truck. This time, she will prevent a murder–if it’s not too late. And, then she will find Dark.

Mike is a software engineer and father of three young children; yet, despite is busy schedule, he manages to write.
