It is autumn 1065 and King Edward is out hunting near Salisbury with his earls, Harold of Wessex and Tostig of Northumbria, where he receives news of rebellion at York. Although, the city is in Tostig’s earldom the king delegates his brother Earl Harold to resolve the situation. While riding to meet the rebels an idea comes to Harold of how to appease both the rebels and Earl Tostig.
Within months King Edward is dead. Harold implements his idea and sets off a sequence of events that would eventually lead to the Norman conquest of England.
