Hokuren’s life is overturned when she gets word her father has died. But when she returns to her farming hometown of Fondence, she finds that you can’t go home again. Goblins are raiding and a rogue wizard menaces. To stop a plot that threatens her town and the world, Hokuren will have to uncover, and face, her parents’ long-hidden secrets.

Hokuren receives the terrible news that her father, her only remaining blood relation, has died. Together with her raw but feisty elven assistant Cinna, she must return to her hometown, the farming village of Fondance, to settle affairs.
But she finds that you can’t go home again. Old flames and childhood mentors aren’t who they once were, goblins are raiding in violation of a long-standing peace, and a rogue wizard menaces. Worse yet, both her father and her long-deceased mother seem to have been involved with the current troubles, going back decades. Hokuren will have to uncover and face her parents’ long-hidden secrets before the town, and the world, is imperiled.
Quinn lives in the Pacific Northwest and spends time each day either writing or thinking about writing. This leaves little time for other activities, but he still finds a way to squeeze in things like playing Dungeons & Dragons, walking around the neighborhood, and reading as many other books as possible. Along with Columbo, who takes on a dual role as lead writing assistant and very affectionate cat, Quinn is excited to present Cinnamon Soul and share future novels starring Cinna and Hokuren with everyone.
