American and British prisoners created a secret army in the Chinese POW camps on the Yalu during the Korean War. For two years they fought a different war, paying a heavy price when they were caught. After seventy years of being kept in the dark, their story is one that must be told. ‘…a fine treatment of little-known history.’ (Reader’s Favorite)
This is the story of the forgotten men from the Forgotten War. In the first year of their captivity in Korea, in those camps on the Yalu, half of the POWs died. Swede spent much of that winter alone in a small cage. He decided the Chinese might kill him, but they would not defeat him. Once he was allowed to join the other prisoners, he helped create a secret army to fight back.
The Chinese called these men Reactionaries-and feared them. For two more years Swede and the others fought a different war, paying a heavy price when they were caught. After seventy years of being kept in the dark, their story is one that must be told.
